Rootnites Halloween Special! 🎃

As we race towards the end of 2026, AFF rounded off the year in style with a two-band show on Halloween night!

First up at the legendary Twang in Katarina Bangata street was Peachbottom Creek, an authentic Old-Time duo based in Uppsala, who made their Stockholm debut.

And while Halloween is usually all about spooky costumes, Peter Cedermark (guitar) and Lori Nitzel (banjo) had something rather different in mind. Taking the stage dressed as vegetables – a pea and a carrot, they caught the audience by surprise and had everyone cracking up!

Lori has come all the way from Illinois to share the joy of traditional American Old-Time music with Swedish audiences. And what a treat we got! From frailing banjo, harmonies and boom-chuck rhythms to flatfoot dancing, hot corn AND cold corn, the duo brought plenty of warmth, fun and authentic roots spirit to the stage.

We congratulate Peachbottom Creek on their debut at Twang and salute their commitment to keeping the Old-Time music tradition alive and thriving in Sweden. We’re delighted to have them as part of the scene and look forward to hearing much more from them.

The evening continued with two sets of traditional bluegrass standards performed by Generation Three Band, a group formed in the spring of 2026 by five young Stockholmers.

Although they have only been playing together for a few months, this band has already captured the essence and spirit of bluegrass – from left to right: Rufus Odén (mandolin), Julian Pollack (bass), Milton Igelström (guitar) Victor Gil (banjo) and Ludwig Nixon Österberg (dobro).

They delivered everything a bluegrass fan could wish for: a sharp mandolin chop, slick dobro slides, driving banjo, classic Tony Rice-inspired licks and excellent harmonies throughout. Their set featured bluegrass favorites such as Old Home Place, Sunny side of the mountain and Nine Pound Hammer – the latter kicking off in a way that sounded an awful lot like Freeborn Man!

At the end of the show Gen 3 symbolically gifted AFF a pumpkin with their autograph!
